Hello eveyone, I have recently bought a external hardrive to have all of my limewire downloads go to as I dont want to lose anything when having to reinstall windows. I have brought it to a friends house and dragged my shared folder into his shared folder and then dragged them into his media player and itunes. Everything works fine until I unplug the external hardrive from his pc then it says cannot find the file. I look in his shared folder and they are in there.
Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

It may be that you should select the files from your folder and drag the files ... rather than the complete folder to the other computer. Just a thought, and if you or they are running Vista, the issue may be a different one and I am not an expert at all on this new er innovation :) ......

Yeah I have tried doing that too and still it wont play them unless the external is hooked up. I dont get it . It should have all the information that it needs to play.

Are you quite sure you are transfering the FILES ..which I assume are mp3 or are you perhaps transfering m3u files which are simply playlist listings?

I looked under details and they say they are mp3 format music. Most files are 2 and 3 meg. So assuming that they are legit music files if they are that big. 200 some songs and total of the folder is 7 gig.

With your external drive disconnected, and Limewire switched off (just to avoid any confusion), go to iTunes>file>add to library. Browse for the files, which you have confirmed are on your friends computer, and add them to the iTunes library. I think this should solve the problem.
I suspect that at the moment your friend's iTunes thinks the files are on the external drive, and will continue to think so unless instructed otherwise.
I hope this helps :)
