Hello,

In LimeWire, one can choose which files from the gallery are downloadable for other P2P users. Files that are not shared become red in the media gallery. A question about that feature: where does LimeWire stores that information (which file?).

Another question. If one checks the option that all downloaded files are shareable, but the extension list for file types that are allowed to share and the shared folder path(s) are empty. Does LimeWire shares the downloaded files still?

Thank you for any clues!

Files allowed for sharing are files that your selecting to make available. Even so as I see this progression there are folks that are flooding the network with the particular extension and it is a "short" file or incomplete document or invalid image or music extension that has some MP3 denoted as MP3 but they are MP4 files and so the MP3 does not play with Windows Media Player and you have to close it and try guessing what the problem is, turns out its mainly the MP4 extension. If you do not want a file that is short you have no alternative than to label it as JUNK but the file will popup again and again on MORE SEARCH and so Limewire needs to make a particular instance for filesize rather than extension as these files could be flooding from non music categories as well which means in essence the PRO version will not help much more than the free version when you want more search results you can expect to see many more of the same problems affecting your session. I would bet that as a Junior Member this upgrade is never processed because someone wants the program to stagger along and thinks that no one will ever notice the problem. Another problem in sharing is the SEARCH of a file having a "_" or " _ " as a seperator, this is not allowed in a SEARCH also limiting the full search expression is not possible as you will obtain many "if and or's" if you search for "if and" or "if something else" something else if" never the "if and" only. I did find these problems and it is irritating. There is nothing to the Limewire Secure Network that eliminates these situations. Short MP3's will occur as also incomplete documents and imagery, some users just don't care about the share opportunity. One file extension that might be a future objective to plan out is CD/DVD Labeling for those whom have Lightscribe drives that can print the label to the CD/DVD. There are no Double Layer Lightscribe discs or color capable DL discs (all grayscale) and I wouldn't know if Hewlett Packard will ever think to product them. There is some artwork available on the Lightscribe site but I saw it as corny and non objective. I mean that it does not reflect upon a particular Musician (audio CD label) and so the problem appears to be for now a driving force that may not consider a button to seperate the search result such that reflects the NCD extension and provides users with a ready made label of a CD/DVD. Sharing archives may have to be rewritten which adds a NCD filespec of a audio or data CD/DVD for the most part the label imagery is color so theres the lack of concern for extensions. When you find JAR files they lack some interpretation for use from a HTM or HTML file, avoid those problems as Javascript extensions have plenty of bugs written by the hacker communities that can destroy a computer or files on it. Sharing of files is provocative and no illegalities are being mandated within the share programs that fnction to avoid those scammers and non-friendlies. Be Careful.

If I understand your question right you are wanting to know what happens when you select a file and disallow sharing of it ie dis allow sharing of individual files.

When you do this it marks the file name within library.dat within the region FILES_NOT_TO_SHARE or if the user (you in this case) choses to disallow sharing of folder then this is found within the DIRECTORIES_NOT_TO_SHARE
