I would like to say that taking the automatic search for files function out of the new versions of limewire is a pain. I and everyone i know would like to see this put back into limewire. This promotes sharing of music files and videos that people "forget" to add to their file sharing which creates a select few who actually share their files. This is creating a lack of files to find and may lead to many users looking elsewhere for their files. For the sake of the users and limewire itself i would sincerely hope you return this feature to future versions of limewire. Thank you!

Hi .. I had noticed this too .. the option to allow Limewire to scan your hard drive for media files during configuration. I think the other side of the argument was that this encouraged people to share things such as personal files and private information accidentally, and that may be the reason it was removed.
You've raised a good point and it will be interesting to hear from others and the developers. :)

We're looking into ways of sharing explicitly what the user wants, instead of directory-based options.

well wasn't that already integrated into the program? there is a choice on whether or not they want to scan for files or manually add them in the old versions. If you go to options and select the folders you want to share i don't see what the problem was??? With the automated searching at least the user has a choice to scan or not:confused:

The record companies don't like it and it can get people in trouble for accidentally
sharing whole batches of copyrighted files when they don't check carefully.
The model for gnutella has always been for voluntary sharing. The old scan routine
was more about mass sharing. The difference between the two pretty much
amounts to accidental and unintended sharing, which is where we get the masses
of worms, spam and the occasional threat of a lawsuit. http://www3.telus.net/Aaron_Walkhouse/tongue3.gif
