I also saw this. I use mac OSX, and I downloaded the installer for 4.14.6 using my browser. I checked my 4.14.5, before removing it and my preferences, in order to do a clean install. I deleted a few odd incompletes from the incomplete folder, and Limewirewin.exe, or something was also there in red. I deleted it, but received an error message that it was in use by another application. I tried, to no avail to search for the file. However the entry did disappear from the incomplete folder, despite the error message. I've no explanation for this :)
Update....
I just started Limewire up and LimeWireWin4.14.7.exe is there in the incomplete folder, giving the path as my incomplete folder. I checked my incomplete folder and this did appear for a second, and then disappeared.
I then resumed the entry in The Library, and it is downloading from several hosts. So perhaps this is just a new way of obtaining new versions, which would seem to work well. But in the back of my mind is the thought that this might have nothing to do with Limewire, or be corrupted, and an official explanation would be most welcome.
The file has downloaded, but I obviosly have no way of checking it is an un corrupted Limewire windows application.
This might be explained in a changelog, but they are in need of quite a bit of updating....
so I am a bit
EDIT: - Moved to Bugs ..... Is this a bug or a new feature?

This the in-network upgrade mechanism and also is used by the stub installer. LimeWire has had this for almost 2 years now :)

Thanks for the explanation Zab. It is strange that no one, or at least not me, seems to have noticed the file in the incomplete folder until now :)

You are not alone...
I saw this as well. I wonder if there's any chance of Windows users being bothered with (to them) completely unusable .dmg files rather than bothering Mac users with .exes? ;)

Probably not, until the Mac market share reaches something approaching the percentage it should rightfully be :D

Hobo runs and hides before another Mac vs Win argument starts and turns into another full scale war :) ;) :p :D

@hobo:
LOL i swear down some day i will kill you for saying that! ;)
But quite slowly, and having made very sure you're free of virii and malware, and having downloaded Service Packs 1 through 357.1.alpha.45,d4rr43.65.num.duh first, one trusts :D

Nah. The war's won. Unfortunately the marketing drones won it.

is this just a 'fancy' way of saying: we're using the network's (read users) bandwidth to distribute our updates...?????

Sometimes we need to roll out urgent updates for serious bugs. There are way too many LimeWire users out there, and the only way to guarantee everyone gets the update asap is to use the network's, or users' if you prefer, bandwidth.

I personally don't like - as a pro user - to get a basic version.
