Hey guys. I've been sitting here for almost 20 minutes and it's still on "Loading Messages".... I'll have to chime in with other people and say 4.14 is... well.... crap. top lists 96% of my cpu and all of my 1gb of ram. 4.12 took about 15 seconds to complete startup and get connected.

"Loading TLS Encryption" takes about 5 minutes and I've been sitting on this "Loading Messages" part for almost 15 minutes now... Using IBM jre150 on a G3 500mhz pismo (linux). Yes, it's an old computer but as I say. 4.12 took about 15 seconds.

KISS please. It's turning into crap because your not. Disabling TLS in options doesn't work. It still hits that TLS loading thing on startup. Maybe because I've never finalized a startup. I'm annoyed. Been using limewire for years but I think I'll give frostwire another whirl unless the devs do something about this.

Can you give the Sun JRE a shot?

I wish I could. I'm on ppc so I get ignored by macromedia and Sun... IBM is my only life-line to java, with the possible exception of Blackdown.

I rolled back to 4.12.6 and it was stalling on connecting with the same symptoms so I rolled back to the IBM java 1.5.0 from roughly a year ago and 4.12.6 started working again. So I re-installed 4.14.4 with the 'working' java and I never got passed the loading TLS part after 18 min as reported by 'time'. 4.12.6 gave me this from start/turbo charged connection/close.

18 min to indefinate is unacceptable for 4.14.4.... I'm over it. Just thought the limewire team should know it's broken PPC side. Yet another prog that I'll be missing out on unless it's fixed... PPC is an oldie but goodie. Bums me out no one bothers testing on it anymore... :-(

And to be fair, my earlier statement about 1gb of ram being used by limewire was wrong. Thats just what 'free' reported. top said 6% used by java when I was waiting on 4.14.4 to do something. Not bad for java I suppose. It was spiking out my 500mhz proc at 96% tho...

We'll fix the TLS check being done even if you've turned it off.

Thanks. That could help. There was a new IBM java release within the past couple days so I installed it and 4.12.6 works with it now but 4.14.4 doesn't. That doesn't make too much sense to me but there it is. Maybe I forgot to remove my ~/.limewire directory when I tried 4.12.6 earlier and the actuall java version has nothing to do with it. It seems to be 4.14 related tho if 4.12.x works...

I still don't know what's happening when it's "Loading Messages". Last night with the new java version, I let it sit overnight. It was still on "loading TLS Encryption" when I woke up. I suppose I could see if strace provides any usefull input but I'm not too keen on java. Don't think strace is going to shed any light on a java app tho.

Thanks for your input Sam. I'll keep an eye on the changlog and mess around a little more once the TLS check has been removed.

4.14.6 is up there, and will not do the TLS init if TLS is turned off. Could you give this a shot? Thanks.
