My Limewire files are saved to \\User\Downloads

Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Limewire 4.14.8.

Everytime i open Limewire, i get 2 issues.

1. Memory leak issue. Already discussed in other posts so i shall not reiterate here. memory usage goes up to a beautiful 1.7Gb++. (Inconsistent, when downloading.)

2. Limewire reads another file in my \\User\Downloads folder for NO GOOD REASON. It's an ISO file, 4Gb. That file was not downloaded through limewire. It's just in the same folder. I am NOT sharing this file.

A quick check in Resource Monitor (Task Manager component of Vista) reveals that it is indeed reading this ISO file, initiated by "System" , but originating from "LimeWire.exe".

There is no logical reason for it to be just reading that 1 file consistently every time i open limewire!

Final note: It reads finish the entire 4Gb of information. Then stops reading.

I'm speechless.

As far as I know, LimeWire will read all folders that you have set up to hold your files..Incomplete, Saved, Shared.

So it would make sense to remove that large file to another location if you don't need to share it.

Yar. I'll probably do that. Just wondering why it happens.

There is another 4Gb ISO file (alphabetically in front of the one that was read) inside the folder, but it doesn't read it though. weird.

dun really see why it needs to read the "Incomplete, Shared, and Saved" folders even if i turn them off for sharing though.

More information though.

First LimeWire.exe reads the ISO file. Then System reads the ISO file. Then svchost.exe (LocalSystemNetworkRestricted)[Priority: Background, so it doesn't lag that much] reads the file.

In the meantime, memory hard faults are produced from "LimeWire.exe", "svchost.exe (LocalSystemNetworkRestricted), "SearchFilterHost.exe".

LimeWire reads every shared file from start to finish in order to calculate the SHA1 hash. That explains why there are so many page faults. As Kath recommended, if you do not intend to share that file move it to another folder.
