Limewire Crashes

I can't remember when this started happening...

Whenever I try to use Limewire one of several things will happen:
1) It starts up and is used normally
2) It will startup but crash at a random time
3) It will startup but crash at a random time and freeze my computer
4) It won't even get passed the loading window... It will crash

I had recently downloaded and installed Java beta 1.6 but clumsingly left Java 1.5 still installed. I uninstalled Java 1.5 but no luck. I then uninstalled Java 1.6 and reinstalled 1.5. No Luck. Then, I tried reinstalling Limewire (not the current version). No Luck. Hoping that this was some sort of bug with the older version of Limewire, I now have the most recent version of Limewire (4.12.3). No Such Luck. I have already tried removing all Limewire preferences which gave me nothing. I am certain that this isn't a virus.

On a seperate note, I have noticed something interesting in the Limewire folder. It turns out that Limewire produced a log file every time it crashed. I took a look inside each one and the thing that catches my eye is this:
EXCEPTION_FLT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO (0xc000008e)
I find this strange seeing as this bug was supposedly fixed in 4.12.1...

ANY SORT OF HELP IS APPRECIATED...please?

O, and by the way, Zone Alarm and AVG give it access...

LimeWire shouldn't crash like that, ever. The bug fixed in 4.12.1 was unrelated (a bug in LimeWire, not the operating system or runtime environment which is what would produce the error you're seeing).

Can you attach the log file here?

If this started happening at some random time, it is likely that there was an update to your computer or you installed some software just prior to it happening. The update or new software is probably the culprit. There isn't much we can do to correct the situation, since errors of the type you're seeing are at a much lower level than LimeWire is programmed at.

Anyways, I've tried updating the JRE to 1.5.7 and then to 1.6 beta, but I still got no such luck...

i have the same problem as ZeroTruths said above, i been reading on the internet trying to find a solution, havent found one yet:mad:

Unfortunately, I was never able to solve the problem.
I eventually had to reinstall Windows XP due to other problems, bit I have gone on anyways.
I now mostly use Bittorrent, but when I can't find that one specific file, I use Limewire.
I still have some problems from time to time, but no crashes.
I never did figure out what was the problem...

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
