I was looking through my incomplete folder deleteing things and I saw lime wire version 4.16.2 in the folder. I clicked on it to look but closed it before it opened and then deleted it.
I did a search and found alot of results for 4.16.1 but whenever I looked for 4.16.2 i got foreign websites. How did this end up in my downloads? I never choose to download it.

If you see it again please save the file so we can check to see if it is genuine.

Limewire does the same. We also distribute important updates this way, but only for the basic version. On windows xp, you can usually find the latest version of LW basic in Documents And Settings\<username>\Application Data\LimeWire\.NetworkShare

I've got the same thing in my incomplete folder. It seems a bit suspicious, I deleted it from the Incomplete folder located in Documents and Settings, but when I re-open LimeWire, it's re-appears back in the folder, and in the incomplete files page in LimeWire. If it's an update, why isn't it doing something? It's only 2.5 MB or something like that. You can't resume it, it says it's "already downloading", and the other day before I deleted it, it was growing in size (I think it was around 4 MB). It just sits there, and you can't do anything to it.
What's this update supposed to do? Am I supposed to launch it? Did I interrupt it, and that's why it's not the same size it was before? Thanks if you can help.
Also, in the aforementioned Incomplete folder in Documents and Settings, it appears as T-4494664-LimeWireWin4.16.2.exe, like previews do. I done some searching around, and it says here (http://www.prevx.com/filenames/882988136159943099-0/T-4494664-LIMEWIREWIN4.16.2.EXE.html), on Prevx, that it was "created as a process on disk". It hasn't done anything like that on my computer, but can someone explain this? Prevx's information has also seemed to change too, as in now it says a 26 MB version of the process has been seen, when I looked at it not that long ago, and it said, in the same place it has that now, that a 3.5 MB version has been seen. I don't get it?

You're overanalyzing it. Let it finish downloading, and if you have set LimeWire to
notify you of service release updates in Options/Updates, it will notify you when the
download is done.
The LimeWire file should be about 4 to 4½ megabytes.

I've just had the same problem.
Accidentally downloaded a dodgy looking file (3642kb mp3 with title matching my search terms coming up in multiple searches) and then started getting LimeWireWin4.16.2.exe appearing in incomplete and sometimes in current downloads.
On further searches, it says I've downloaded that file, but can't find it on the hard drive anywhere. Have removed all traces of such files and the limewirewin.exe file and reinstalled limewire, which seems to have sorted it for now.
My laptop is new, running Vista Home Basic (no chance to install linux yet) and there are no erroneous processes running (nor were there when this was going on).

I don't know about everyone else here, but the LimeWireWin4.16.2.exe in my Incomplete folder is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Incomplete. There, it is titled "T-4494664-LimeWireWin4.16.2", and has the subtitles of "The Fastest File Sharing Program on Earth", and "Lime Wire LLC", and it's 4.28 MB. Is it normal for this to be there? Because there's another folder in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\.limewire\.NetworkShare called Incomplete, but this folder only has an INFO and a PART file in it, with a combined total file size of 161 KB. Also, if I go to C:\Program Files\LimeWire\.NetworkShare, there is a couple (past) versions there: 4.10.9, 4.12.6, and 4.14.10, which is my computer's current version. This is starting to increasingly look like something completely different from a normal update, because LimeWire has not notified me of any updates, and I have it set to "Major Updates" setting. I also set it to the other settings temporarily, and it didn't do anything...

We don't notify about every update immediately after it's available. The reason it basically to make absolutely certain it's stable and there's nothing we overlooked. If we told everyone about the release before we made sure it was ready, then we'd have to push yet another release if a bug came up that we needed to fix. But, we expect every release to be ready for notifying, so we still seed them into the network. (Also, the 'Online Installer' pulls the download from the network, so it has to be out there in order to work.)
It does look like a bug that 4.16.2 is showing up in the normal incomplete folder instead of the .NetworkShare one... but nothing terribly drastic.
We'll probably be releasing a 4.16.3 soon, since a few things popped up... but 4.16 should be wrapping up very soon!

Are you sure that this isn't a virus, trojan, worm or something? What am I supposed to do with the version in my Incomplete folder? If I delete it, it just reappears after I start up LimeWire again... that's why I'm suspicious it's not an update.

If it's incomplete, it's incomplete... let it finish and it'll probably go away. Otherwise, if it somehow is complete and just didn't copy over, you can right-click on it and see if it's signed by Lime Wire LLC. We sign all the installers. If the signature is there and is valid, it's nothing to worry about. (Even still, I doubt it's something to worry about... but we'll check out why it's being saved to the incomplete folder.)

It's complete, and not doing anything. It's signed Lime Wire LLC, but if it is somehow a fake something, couldn't whoever designed it also put this there to try to trick people into thinking it's an actual LimeWire update? And why would it be appearing as T-4494664-LimeWireWin4.16.2.exe?... that's what alerted me when I first saw it, as well as the fact that, even if you delete it from where it's originally located, it restarts after you open LimeWire again. It appears in the actual LimeWire window as LimeWireWin4.16.2, though.

It looks like it's just a bug that the file is appearing in the normal incomplete folder. If it's signed & the signature is valid, it's OK. No need for concern. :)

Will be fixed in 4.16.3. Back to your scheduled programming... :)

i compared downloading an official lime wire download from this web site to the one in my incomplete folder. they started different. my firewall reacted different to the incomplete one than the one from the web site. it asked me to verify the incomplete one and said it was from an unknown publisher.
any ideas?

Perhaps the one in the incomplete folder hadn't downloaded the publisher's signature?
