What is in that folder? Did you go through all the options and the Library to see if it
is listed in there? Why is it unwanted?

The folder is completely empty..
It's unwanted because I could choose to place all others where I wanted to, (sharing, download and so on) but this one is just placing itself without any option to choose

The previous version did not have this issue.

You should be able to delete it because the permissions are normal. Maybe it was
just another bug related to the propagation of updates, in which case you would
have to shut LimeWire down before deleting it. Once the bug is fixed it won't come back.

Try the 4.17 beta to see if it was fixed. In any case an empty folder is completely
harmless and takes up only 4 kilobytes, so there's no need to worry.

The default folder locations have recently been moved to My Documents\LimeWire for new installs. There have also been some new subfolders added, Store Purchased and Saved, in addition to the old Incomplete and Shared folders.
All of these default folders can be set differently, see Options -> Saving, Sharing, LimeWire Store. There's nothing that should be preventing you from deleting any of these folders. The only thing I could possibly think of is you're trying to delete this folder while LimeWire is running or the folder was created during installation when you had admin privileges and you're now running in an account that doesn't have admin privileges.

Heya guys. =) I wanna bump this thread because I'm having the same problem here.

I wanna know how to permanently delete the "LimeWire" folder that's automatically created in "My Documents" every time LimeWire starts. (I'm using 4.16.4 btw.)

Like bimbobo's problem, this folder is also empty in my case, because I re-configured the directory paths for all the subfolders that LimeWire normally places in there by default. So for instance, the folders: Saved, Incomplete, Shared, Store Purchased, etc. -- they all exist in the "Program Files/LimeWire" folder now.

Regardless, this empty "LimeWire" folder relentlessly reincarnates itself in "My Documents"! (wtf??)

So why does this happen, anyway? How do I stop it from reoccurring?

And please don't reply with "Just live with it, man!". I like my folders to be organised, and this just ruins it. Additionally, I dun't the time to try out the new beta...

Here's hoping someone can help. =)
~BC

PS: I DO have admin privileges, so that's not the problem I think...

It shouldn't be created if your saved/shared folders aren't there. We'll check into it.

BigChief014 I notice you are saving your downloads in your Limewire application/program folder, if I have read it right. This is definitely not recommended. For a start, if you update Limewire in the future, I believe there is a very real possibility that your Limewire files including your saved files will be overwritten by the update. The downloads, the Preference/application data files, and the application files themselves should all be in different locations.

The fact that you have created your download/save folder in your applications folder could be why Limewire is insisting on creating a folder in the default location.

Hobo, thanks for the advice.

I have changed the location of all these folders now.

Unfortunately... nope, the dreaded folder in "My Documents" continues to re-appear!!

Anyway, I'll continue to live with it for the time being. Thanks Sam + Hobo.

I thought I'd better do some checking.

This folder also exists in Mac OSX in Users/my name .. It did contain a subfolder "Store Purchased", so I moved the location for Store Purchased to the same location as my Save folder (which is elsewhere) using options/preferences > Limewire Store > save folder but the empty folder still appears in the original location.

If you delete it it will automatically recreate when you restart Limewire ... Its not a big deal but hopefully will be fixed ... I am using 4.17.0 ... but as no mention of a fix has been mentioned I assume it still exists in the current Beta.

Thread moved to Bugs forum

Since several different folders were mentioned you'll have to be more specific.

Hi Aaron
Sorry, I thought the thread was only about the one particular folder which I read in previous posts that have said about the folder named Limewire generating & regenerating itself in My Documents when you open Limewire (even after you have manually deleted it). I get the same problem, (or should I really say, annoyance) and like Big chief I have my own destinations for limewire stuff and like to keep everything neat and where I want it and not have folders generated on my behalf!
I have tried to get rid of it and it keeps coming back! Just thought since the last post (Hobo's) someone may have come up with a fix? Never mind if they haven't I will continue to delete it every time I open Limewire!
Cheers
Ian

I was under the impression that this has been fixed in the latest Beta version which is not 4.17.3 but a couple of numbers later, despite it saying that on the download page .. I must confess I have not had the time to check it out just yet.

We're up to 4.17.5 now. Let's see what happens if I delete that folder and run it…

…Yep. Looks like it was fixed. ;]
