I tried to play a little bit with the latest beta (5.0.7), here are my comments:

- During the installation, when LimeWire tries to connect to install.limewire.com my firewall blocked the connection. It doesn't warn when it blocks connections, so I spent some time and looked at the logs to find out what the problem was, since the error message tells "This installation is corrupted. Please download and install LimeWire again". It would be better if it displayed a warning about the connection issue instead. The progress of the installation process was the following:
Output folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire
Output folder: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
Extract: install_flash_player_10_plugin.msi... 100%
Execute: msiexec /i C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\install_flash_player_10_plugin.msi /qn
Output folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire
Extract: COPYING
Extract: LimeWire.exe
Extract: LimeWire.ico
Extract: SOURCE
Extract: data.ser
Extract: inspection.props
Extract: pmf.ico

Output folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire\lib
Extract: LimeWire.ico

Closing Banner.
Delete file: C:\Program Files\LimeWire\execNoWindow.exe
Output folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire\lib
And at this point I got the box telling "This installation is corrupted. Please download and install LimeWire again".

Also, putting the md5 checksum of the file on the download page might be useful and save you some bandwidth ;)

- The minimum system requirements on http://www.limewire.com/download/betaversion.php state 256 Mb RAM and a live connection, for all versions of Windows since Windows 95. My configuration is Win 9x 4.90, 128 Mb RAM, Java Standard Edition version 6 update 4 (build 1.6.0_04-b12) but I tried to install it anyway. After fixing the connection issue, the install process ended successfully, but when I clicked "Finish" while the option for running LimeWire was checked, well, nothing happened. The setup application exited as expected, but LimeWire did not launch and there was nothing about LimeWire in the process list when I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del. When I tried to launch LimeWire from within the application list (Start > Program Files > LimeWire) I got an error stating that LimeWire needed a more recent version of Windows. Interestingly, it looks like LW is installing install_flash_player_10_plugin.msi but on Adobe's website they tell that my (archaic) system is not supported.

So IMHO it would be good if LW checked available resources and the OS version before beginning the installation and informed the user. The download page may also need a little update regarding the supported OS list.

- Finally, and that's the most important point for me, I read on another thread (http://forum.limewire.org/showpost.php?p=17040&postcount=3) that the Bitzi lookup was removed from the options of the search tab. My opinion is that you should *really* keep it: it's useful to avoid spam and very easy to use. I really don't think that it's an advanced feature: just a right click and you get an explanation in English along with a rating, I can hardly imagine an easier system to help people avoid bad files on decentralized networks.

I agree. Bitzi should be up front where everybody can find and use it without having to be taught how.

It's in the properties dialog along with the rest of the info about the file. Just click on 'More File Info' and you'll get it all. It's two clicks away -- one to click on the 'i' for information on a search result, and two to click on 'More File Info'.
