One thing that I don't care for in the new Limewire is that the download qualities are lumped together by batch. In other words, a quality of "Excellent" includes bit rates from 190 through 320.

There's a BIG difference in quality within that range. I've always gone for sharing files which range from the mid 200's to 320, and with the new Limewire, I have to start clicking on all of the "excellent" ("properties" choices) in order to see if any HQ choices truly exist.

Therefore, in this case the search results within Limewire 4 are superior, because the bit rates are right in front for the user to see.

Hunting and pecking within the "excellent" results takes a lot more time user time.

Thanks for the feedback!

For future iterations, bitrates can be more granular and we can break up excellent bitrates a little more.

For this design, we found that most people don't know what the term "bitrate" even means...it is a very technical way to identify if a file is a good or bad recording quality.

If you use classic view of search results, you can enable the bitrate column and have it right in front of you all the time if you want. Additionally, we are toying with the idea of customizing a search result in the list view to see exactly the metadata you want to see for each file type.

Excellent! Thanks Mike. I'd love to see that breakup in the future.

I actually did go into the "classic view" and find the exact bit rates, but I wasn't aware that I could set that column permanently. .... I'll do that then. In this case, "the classic view" will workout better for me. I have no problem with that.

Thanks for all of the hard work that you are putting into these changes!

Bravo, bravo!

How to enable the bitrate column? In classic view a right click of the header only shows me options of extension, from, name, size & type. I can't find an option for more columns within any of the other menus (file, view etc) either.

because you are in "all" subcategory, you don't see the option for bitrate. click 'audio (154)' at the top left, then right click (control click) and you'll see the bitrate option.
