Hi all!

I have noticed that LimeWire 5.1.0 uses a lot of memory when running. Currently, it is using over 200mb of memory with three searches and two downloads. That is more than iTunes, Windows Live Messenger and Internet Explorer combined! This is fine on my computer as I have a large amount of memory installed, but wouldn't be acceptable on lower end machines with less memory.

I would also like the ability to hide downloads, similar to LimeWire 4 where you could incease or decrease the download area to show more search results or show more downloads. I really liked this feature of LimeWire 4, and would appreciate it in LimeWire 5.

I have also noticed that there are lots of false results that come up when any search is conducted, which are most likely viruses as their file sizes are extremely small. There are more false results in LimeWire 5 then there are in LimeWire 4.

Finally, I have also realised that LimeWire 5 displays noticeably less search results than previous versions of LimeWire. A search on version 4 could produce around 150 results whereas the same search in version 5 can produce around 30 - 50 results which is disappointing.

Well one thing i would like to mention is that 5.1.1 is out: http://www.limewire.com/download/betaversion.php Another thing is that i have no idea what could be the cause of your memory going up that high, mines currently close to 100,000K. Make sure you let LW fully load and that there isn't a spinner next to the library because that means it's loading the library. The library load times increased a lot for me in the update, so i don't think that could be an issue.

About the search results, in LW 4, it would show a lot of results, but a bunch were related to spam and also it would show multiple copies of the same file, whereas in LW 5, it will show just the single file instead of the multiple copies as mentioned earlier, which won't load a lot of useless search results of the same file, if you understand what i mean. In LW 4, it would also show all of the files that it finds when you do the search, while in LW 5, it neatly organizes it depending on what file type it is(song, video, etc.)

I didn't realise that LimeWire 5 only displayed one copy of each file found, which explains the seemingly low search results. However, you said that in LimeWire 4 it displayed all the files for a search which is untrue as you could specify which file types to look for before you searched. This still remains in LimeWire 5.

I have closed LimeWire 5 down and then re-launched it. It has been open less than 15 minutes, and is already using over 160mb of memory. I am downloading one torrent, and my library has completely loaded.

I don't find LimeWire 5 that much better than LimeWire 4. I especially feel that it less powerful and there are limits on what you can do. It just doesn't feel like it's been thought through well enough. I'm not particularly impressed with the layout either. I much prefer the older layout, but do like the search at the top of the screen. I really miss being able to right click on a search result and choose 'Browse Host'. I know this feature is still available, but it isn't as easy to complete.

However, I do think LW 5 looks aesthetically better than LW 4, but just needs a whole lot of improving to make it function as good as LW 4.
