What version are you using?
LW 5.2 (the latest version) reintroduced all the missing playlist features.
You can now create multiple playlists by clicking the 'Create List' button under Library button. Playlists are now defaultly saved in LW for you.

It's still there. Open up your library and on the left hand side of the window, it should say Library, Public Shared, and Public Shared, just click on Create List, and you can add your songs to the list.
You beat me to it. :p

Before I could just download a song, and it would automatically go to the default playlist when I play it. And I could repeat it if I wanted to, and add other songs to it. And when I'm done, they would go away. And I would repeat this whole process next time I'm playing a song.

There was never any version of LimeWire where a download went directly into a playlist in LimeWire. That said, we are looking into ways to give better control over what happens to a downloaded file. For example, some kind of option that you could say, "All files I download, add to the following lists..."

Yes, there was. Sorry, but I know what I'm talking about. Or I launched the download from the Library and it went to the playlist. And what do you mean by "we are looking into ways to give better control over what happens to a downloaded file"? It's not there yet?

You could have even simply dragged the file from your library to your playlist. The feature that he mentioned isn't there yet, but it wouldn't be a bad idea if it were. It would be similar to when you select song(s) from your library, then right-click on it, and it will allow you to add to a list.

Sorry, meoloman002. If you're talking about a file going directly from downloaded to a playlist, there has indeed never been a version that did that (and I also know what I'm talking about, being that I would have written the code that did it). On the other hand, if you're talking about a file launched from the library going into a playlist... that I'm not sure about.
However, there's little-to-no difference between double-clicking a file in the library to launch it and dragging & dropping a file from the library into a playlist of your choosing. If you dislike drag & drop (because of, say, shaky hands), you can right-click on the file and choose to add it to a playlist.
What you want to do is easily done... just not implicitly by playing the file.
