Was it a .mov file that is 1,040 kb? if so, you downloaded a file that has probably a million different names. Stay away from .mov files. the same thing happend to me.

Don't know... That name is probably just a handle... as for tracing, my guess id that he's proxied, annonomously, and untraceable. These files could also be comming from others who have dl'd his stuff, and now uploading - I don't know

To add to my post, if you see a mov file that is about 2000KB or less, stay away from it. it's usually porn, with some 'gifts' attached.

Yeah unfortunatley this dosent work if the item being downloaded dosent fall into an adult catagorie. If it is hidden by callling it by a mundane name then it is undetectable.

I downloaded a cartoon for my children and my wife checked it out and it was H/C porn! But it was in the childrens genre and named something mundane like kiddies cartoons.

One of the best features on limewire is the preview button. Just allow the file to download a few percent and then highlight it and press preview. It will show you the file up to however much has been downloaded. Then you can choose whether to carry on downloading or cancel.

I'm sad to say there is NO way to protect yourself from accidently downloading them other then not downloading any videos pr pics. Or, in the case of programs and viruses, to not downlod them!

I found that out the HARD way. i quit downloading pics cause well they just downloaded to fast to make sure they was what i wanted and i DID end up in prison for pictures that was downloaded to my PARENTS computer.

I have found that trying to download any kind of movie or photo you never know exacdtly what you are going ot get. and reporting the ip addy's of people that IS spreading the child porn does absolutley nothing. I should know before i was BUSTED I reported 3 different sites AND over 500 ip address's all they did was bust me for having it on my computer!!!!!!!

cause everytime i ended up downloading something of a child porn nature or anything similar to it i reported the ip of the person i got it from! lets just say now i just fry that person's IP address to where they cant share ANYTHING.

there is also NO way to stop it since it IS peer to peer! considering there will always be a TON of people uploading and downloading them. and you can and never will weed out ALL the people hosting them. Believe me I wish you could. the only way i can think of being able to do that is to get a LARGE group of hackers together and have them actually go out seraching for the garbage and frying the WHOLE systems of ANYONE sharing them. but then again that would nail regular people with it on thier systems and not knowing it. I have already found a few virsues that create a folder you can't see in your windows explorer (but limewire does see it) even with it set to show hidden files and folders that folder is STILL invisible. and it is always FULL of movie files most of which ARE child porn and other things.

Which Viruses are those,that create a 'Secret' folder,that you can't see?
If the folder contains movies,would that not take up a lot of space?
How did you find the 'Folder'?

i have no cluewhat hte virus is as none of my AV's have found anything. the folder is called nothing but _ im not joking

it is normally created within the shared folder so that other people can download the stuff. i mainly get mine outta zip files.but some quicktime and mov give it to ya also.only thing i use limewire for anymore is mainly "movies" and programs.

the way i found it was simple limewire actually shows the file where windows explorer doesnt! the reason windows explorer wont find it. Is because it is hidden the same way that microsoft hides folders on your PC have fun finding those. i didnt bother to share EVERY folder till i found them. but i did check the main areas of my system that way. by sharing them inside limewire. you would be amazed how many hidden folders and files are on a PC.
