Default ID Tag Question

Can someone explain if this is a bug or not?

I have a server that I have a portion of my audio files
All of my audio files indeed have either and ID1 or ID2 tag with all information including album art.

But, when I access the server, via direct connect

The information on some of the files is either not being parsed or read and not displayed in the left hand window pane. (artist, album)
It appears, (I think) that if a filename contains non-standard characters (i.e. [] square brackets and others) that the information is disregarded.

The files do show on the main screen, is this a bug, or do I have something, set up improperly?

Thanks ahead of time...

Yup there's a bug with non-standard characters causing metadata to be dropped. Been there for a long time. We'll hopefully fix it for the next release.

Further on the id3 tag topic, are the proggies aware there's a bug between LW's describe function & wmp? If a file is added to wmp, then described by LW, it corrupts the file. This only seems to happen with wmp. It was discussed & tested out by a couple of regulars on gforums last year I think it was. I can't find that thread link (I think it was deleted.) But here's a couple of others anyway: 1. Link 1, & also Link 2

Also, the playlist function save issue has a flaw. Link A, & also the original finding here Link B

This is a bug with WMP. It can't read ID3 tags that are compressed. I'll check out that playlist bug -- in a nutshell it's that you can't resave the playlist under the same name after changes are made?

Yes

Otherwise it comes up as a blank file next time you open it.

Some people like to edit playlists they've created previously.

Okay -- we'll fix it. JIRA issue is https://www.limewire.org/jira/browse/GUI-31 for reference.

The playlist bug is fixed for the next release.

I'll look at the ID3 tag problem tomorrow. The JIRA for that is http://www.limewire.org/jira/browse/CORE-55 if you want to track it.

KarterJK -- After taking some time to look into your problem, I can't seem to actually find anything wrong. I apparently was mistaken that LimeWire had this bug, it seems to be working just fine.

Are you able to find any pattern that leads to LimeWire not displaying the info in the left?

Nevermind -- found the bug & fixed it. Should be set for 4.13.
