I have a Dedicated Server (WINS Server 2003 - Standard) that I run a website, etc off of....
I have been using 4.12.3(Pro) LW on the server, and was able to connect directly in the past, now all of a sudden, I am getting an Error message, that states: Can't browse host.... Just recently, past few days, there had been a number or errors reported... but, all seemed to be running fine.... So a couple of questions: 1. If my server went into UltraPeer mode, does this disallow direct connecting? 2. When I start LW I start in disconnect mode, however, people can still connect and download... Can someone explain this? 3. If LW is started on my main server but in disconnect mode, would I still be able to directly connect and download from it? Thanks ahead of time ![]() |

Hi Karter,
Ultrapeer mode shouldn't disallow direct connect. Being disconnected doesn't prevent people from downloading from you -- it does prevent people from connecting and establishing a Gnutella connection though. Downloads can still happen when disconnected because your address is in a "download mesh" that folks who are sharing the file exchange, and when someone hears about your address they'll attempt to connect to you to see if it's downloadable. We can certainly consider adding a "prevent uploads while disconnected" option, if you (or others) think it would be useful. You should be able to do a direct connect & download if it's disconnected. |

Ummm, for my purposes, I plan to stay in disconnect mode and provide the connection address to members only...I can't think of a real reason, not to allow transfers Last edited by KarterJK; July 18th, 2006 at 08:21 PM. |
