A bug has been reported and the next version will probably take care of it.
In the meantime you can "Locate on disk" and play the file directly.

I have been using limewire for over 5 years now. I kept paying for PRO and NO new support for searches. In fact this LW5.1.2? is not worth 2 cents, compared to old LimeWire versions. I believed that after 5 years their would be more people sharing music, but search results for older R&R,Doo Wop and vocals is frustrating today.
I am building a new music library using CD changers and mp3 format. What I used to get in 30 minutes in 2004, now takes 30 days.
Any help out there for an old man who wants more than his current 64,000 songs?

Dave

Thumbs down

I finally just downloaded Limewire 5, and I will be going back to 4.18.8 here in just a second. (The only reason I upgraded was because my 4.18.8 wasn't connecting for some reason...???)

My main problem is this:
I have a file that is about 30% complete, and it says it is stalled. When I click try again, it immediately goes back to the stalled status.
I do a fresh search for the file, and find it with 6 people listed in the P2P column.
I try to click the download, and nothing happens (because it's already in my list of downloads most likely).
Now, in LW4, I could just cancel my incomplete, and then click download on the fresh search, and it would start back up where it left off. I can't do that in LW5 because cancel will delete the 30% I already have...
I have snuck around this by moving the incomplete file to another folder, and then canceling it, then moving it back into the incomplete folder, and clicking the fresh download, but that's just a load of crap to have to go through all of that.
Maybe some people like the cancel deleting the file, I do not. Make it an option to change that.

Also:

Why are the files stalling where I can do a search and find it that way?
Why when the file is stalled, will clicking on the found file in the search not start it back up?
And why does canceling the file delete it?
What is this stalled crap anyway? And why does try again accomplish nothing? It's my computer, and if I want it to waste 4 hours searching for a file, then it better d@mn well waste 4 hours. I do NOT want a 1 second blink and have it go right back to stalled. That's not a "try again"... that's a "gave up".

Also an issue:
Where can I find the options to limit the bandwith for uploads and downloads?
In fact, where are all the options anyway? LW4 had enough options to choke a horse. My only options I can find now are deal with LW5, or go back to LW4.
Guess what I'm picking...

I don't like the new version because in my experience, I get less search results than in the previous version. I try to find files and come up with no usable results. I went back to the 4 version and found what I was looking for.
I don't like the new color and new look of the new limewire. The old one was perfect. You can't see a lot of the information about the file downloading that we used to see in the old version.

The reason why you get less search results is because LW 5 groups any similar files, thus showing less results. Also, LW 5 removes a bunch of spam that was found on LW 4. There still is spam on LW 5, but not as much.

To see more information about the file you're downloading, if I understand what you mean, you can switch to classic view and it will look like the search that LW 4 uses.

I don't mean it that way. In LW4 I used to find some files I wanted to download. In LW5 I couldn't find them. When I went back to LW4 I found and downloaded the files I was looking for. So it's not the Spam and similar files that are the problem. The problem is the missing files in the search result.

I found same issue using LW 5. On both Windows & OSX downloading, and on OSX LW 5 uploading. OSX LW 5 uploads continuously break off.

Yes it is an issue with no user technique for continuing the download by themselves.

And using LW 4, I find LW 5 users struggle incredibly to maintain a connection to their download from me. It's painful to watch as LW 5 users continuously stop downloading from me, struggle to get bandwidth. Why is this mostly only happening with LW 5 users? I have come to a conclusion LW 5 has some issues with downloading. Whilst the OSX LW 5 uploading might be a separate issue, the LW 5 users struggling to maintain connection to LW 4 users does seem an issue.

I could show snapshots of my upload window, LW 4 users 100% successful, LW 5 users: 1%, 17%, 65%, 0%, ... etc. etc. with the occasional one reaching 100% after many many attempts over a long period.

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Transfers, check the option for limiting bandwidth & a slider will appear.

Unhappy Does anyone miss download priorities?

I'm about ready to downgrade back to v4. I'm tired of pausing everything that's not moving fast enough (although it might later) to get the last file to start downloading. Unless I'm missing something (entirely possible), the ability to prioritize downloads is missing from V5.

well ive been using limewire for many many years. used to be the best place for finding rare music and new stuff. then we had to go thru the issue with loads of fake files. now you bring this smoldering load out. im not paying more for this crap. every time i install it yep it becomes my default torrent program. please take this feature out as i didnt ask you for it. or allow me to remove it from my torrent list.

now the real issue. i dont like this lame way of showing wich files are currently downloading. did everyone at limewire collectivly hit each othe rin the heads with hammers to come up with this lame desgin. the old design where it showed all your files at the bottom was awesome. this is just STUPID. yeah im mad.

this program now is what we call a HOG. i dont know what exactly you have done but it now sucks every last bit of my resources making my pc chug and i have a good set up.

thanks for all the years of usefull service. but im done with this retarted program.
