Hi, i have been using the free version of limewire for months and never had any problems, i could download 8 things at once with great speed.
I decided it was time to purchase pro and did so yesterday, ever since i seem to be having trouble with download speeds, it seems to be capped at the 40kb mark. I have a turbo charged connection My download bandwidth is set to unlimited It seems to be ok for music files, they can reach over 100kb but avi etc sits at 40kb. For example, i try downloading video1.avi and my download speed sits at 40kb, if i pause that and download video2.avi it also downloads at 40kb. If i try downloading both at the same time they share 20kb I know that each should be more than 40kb to begin with so why am i being capped, how can i get rid of it ![]() |

This forum is for development of LimeWire, not for help on how to use it
![]() You need to post those kind of questions in the LimeWire section on the Gnutella Forums. ![]() Here is the link.. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23

Try looking in the options for a speed tab, if you can find the setting for what kind of internet connection try selecting T3, even if you don't have it, it will increase your speed to what it was before, hopefully it will... In addition to the speed tab also look for the tab called "Downloads" and make sure that the slider at the bottom is set at Unlimited. |

Setting your speed to T3 will allow you to download from more hosts. As will using Pro. The maximum hosts thus is 14. It is not always advantageous to set a higher speed than you should, but I have tried it a few times and once had a good increase in speed. I have heard of others who experienced a decrease. The difference only happens if you are downloading from multiple hosts.

Ah, ok, I didn't realize that. Can you post a little chart of what the maximum number of hosts are for the 4 speed options, both free and pro?

I am guessing here, but this is roughly correct. A developer may correct me.
modem ==> 2 or3 connections I dont think this increases in the pro version cable ==> 6 connections >pro 8 T1 ==> 10 connections >pro 12 T3 ==> 12 connections >pro 14 But as you rightly point out you are bound by the combined uploaders speeds in any case. Capping may be used by isps. That is another story. |

Only A Hobo, I thought the higher host connections depended upon whether you were running as an ultrapeer? Since I've never run as a UP & only have a modest speed, I've never been able to check this. My understanding was 8 & 10 hosts maximum for basic & pro respectively if not running as a UP.

We may be on different tracks here
I'm talking about available multiple hosts to download a single file from, which are afaik are not affected by ultrapeer status, rather than host connections. |
